The second Sunday in September is Grandparents’ Day in Canada, so this post is a tribute to my children’s grandparents and all of the wonderful grandparents out there!
Happy Grandparents’ Day!
Top 10 Reasons to Be Thankful for Grandparents
1) Grandparents love their grandchildren straight from the heart – unconditionally
2) Grandparents’ lives are lit up by their grandchildren’s spark and stories
3) Grandparents are living history books – they can share how daily life used to be before technology and other modern advances
4) Grandparents can share stories with their grandchildren about their family history and can teach them about their family tree and all the stories connected to different family members
5) Grandparents have time to just be with their grandchildren. Like children, Grandparents tend to be more in the present. They love to give children undivided attention and just listen to them or play cards or games with them
6) Grandparents can teach their grandchildren classical skills – gardening, woodworking, baking, sewing, knitting, etc.
7) Grandparents pass on family traditions and keep family culture going
8) Grandparents help children to feel a sense of identity which contributes to their self-esteem
9) Grandparents can be the other caring adults in a child’s life, who a child can turn to turn to in times of need, which is considered to be one of the most important protective factors
10) Grandparents share invaluable wisdom. They have a unique perspective to share from their life’s journey
